OEM and ODM: private label cartridges and ink to your requirement

Two separate questions arrive under this heading. Can the product carry your brand? Yes — on the cartridge label and on the machine. Can the ink be adjusted to your process? That depends on what has to change. Neither moves the minimum, which stays at 160 cartridges. This page answers both, including the parts we will not promise.

What can carry your brand?

Brand surface and manufacturing boundary are two different things. Merging them is how buyers end up disappointed at the first shipment — so here is a table instead of a description.

What can carry your brand?
Item Who makes it Your brand on it
Cartridge (12.7 / 25.4 mm) Our own filling lines Yes — on the cartridge label
Ink (four systems) Formulated by us Yes — on the cartridge you buy
Handheld and inline printers Equipment partners Yes — on the machine
Printhead assembly Printhead manufacturers No brand surface — internal part

OEM: how far does private label go?

Private label here means the label. The cartridge that reaches your customer carries your brand, your part number and your batch reference instead of ours.

Know the limit, because it is the one most suppliers blur: the label is the branded surface. Cartons and outer packaging stay our standard packing, so what changes is what the buyer sees on the cartridge itself. Need more than that? Say so at enquiry stage and we will tell you plainly whether we can do it.

What we need from you

  • Label artwork as a print-ready file — vector, with the brand name exactly as it must appear. Private label does not move the minimum: it stays at 160 cartridges, because the artwork is set up once and then applied to every cartridge in the run.
  • The part number, and any batch or traceability reference you want printed on the label.
  • Any regulatory text your market requires on the label, so we can check it fits the label area before the run starts.

What we will not print

We print what the label has to say, but we will not put a certification mark, a standard number or a country-of-origin statement on it that we cannot evidence. A label that overstates the product is a problem for you in your market, not only for us.

ODM: how far can the ink be adjusted?

We formulate the inks we supply instead of reselling someone else’s, which is what makes adjustment possible at all. But "custom ink" covers everything from a small shift in drying behaviour to a new chemistry developed over months, and the difference lands in your lead time.

So here is what adjustment means at our scale, in plain terms.

What we can adjust

  • Viscosity and drying behaviour, to suit your line speed and the printhead-to-product distance.
  • Wetting and surface-energy compatibility, to target the substrate you actually print on — film, carton, coated metal or a treated plastic.
  • Colour and fill volume, within the four-colour cartridge and the HP45-format bodies we fill.
  • Batch consistency — if the same code has to read identically across a long run, that is a formulation decision as much as a filling one.

What adjustment is not

Adjustment happens inside the four ink systems we already make. What we will not do is promise a brand-new chemistry on a 160-unit first order: a genuinely new ink is a development project with its own sampling rounds and a lead time we agree with you up front. And no ink change is confirmed until it has been printed on your own material — the datasheet tells you where to start, the print tells you whether it works.

The machines: who makes them, and what does your brand mean there?

The handheld and inline TIJ printers are not our own manufacture. We supply them jointly with specialist equipment-manufacturing partners, so the cartridge and the platform are specified as one system rather than as two parts that happen to fit.

Those machines can be supplied carrying your brand. The principle is the same as the cartridge label: the platform is built by partners who make machines for a living, and we stay responsible for the combination — cartridge, ink and machine matched together and confirmed on your material before you commit.

What should I send for a private-label or custom-ink enquiry?

The more of this arrives in the first message, the fewer rounds it takes.

  • 01 The substrate you code on, and whether it is treated, coated or bare.
  • 02 Your line speed, and the printhead-to-product distance if you know it.
  • 03 The code content, and the size it has to print at.
  • 04 Your label artwork, and the brand name exactly as it must appear.
  • 05 Target volume, and the date you need the first shipment.

Do private label and custom ink change the order terms?

The commercial terms are the same as for a standard order. Private label and ink adjustment change the artwork and the formulation, not the minimum.

Minimum order 160 cartridges (one carton)
Lead time Ships within 3 working days of payment
Sample printing Free of charge, on your own material
Private label (OEM) Your brand on the cartridge label
Ink adjustment (ODM) Formulation adjusted to your requirement

What we do not claim

We are a new company. XinmoJet was registered in August 2026 and we do not claim a longer history. The experience sits with the people, not with the age of the business — everyone here came from inside the TIJ cartridge industry, with more than ten years each across cartridges, printheads and ink, before joining us. We hope it is useful on your line. We also display no certification marks, because we will not put a CE, RoHS or ISO mark on a page before the certificate is in hand.

Questions that come with a private-label enquiry

Can the cartridge carry my own brand?

Yes, on the cartridge label. The retail box and the shipping carton stay in standard packaging — that boundary is deliberate, because a branded box has to be designed, proofed and printed, and it changes the minimum order in ways a label does not. If you need branded outer packaging as well, tell us and we will scope it separately.

Can you adjust the ink to my process?

Possibly, and it depends on what has to change. Adjusting a formulation for a different substrate, a drying speed or an additive is real development work, and we will say what it involves before quoting. What we will not do is promise a result on your material before we have printed on it.

Does private label change the minimum order?

No. The minimum stays at 160 cartridges: private label changes the artwork and the label stock, not the method that fills the cartridge. The work it adds happens before the first unit is produced, and that is the part worth planning for.

Can the printer carry my brand as well?

The handheld and in-line printers can carry your brand, and that is arranged with the equipment-manufacturing partner who supplies them. Anything that changes the machine itself rather than its label is a different question — ask us, and we will come back with what the partner confirms rather than promising it now.

Send us your material. We send back a printed code.

Tell us the material, the line speed and what you need to print. We will name the ink system and post you samples you can test yourself.
